Ethiopia has launched a hydro-power project over the River Nile with around $4.7 billion investment. It is the first time that Ethiopia has launched such a large hydro-power project with such huge amount of investment.

The power plant, expected to generate around 5,250 megawatt, is named the ‘Grand Millennium Dam’, which claims to be the first of its kind in Africa that will cover 40 kilometers square over the Blue Nile.
